Final Project Assignment - 15 Points

Please impress yourself with the quality of your final project.

Option 1: YOUR CHOICE of Project

You have learned so much about using technology to support your students. What do YOU need to support your teaching practice? Use this assignment to allow you the time to create something/anything you need for your current/future work environment.

With prior approval of the instructor, you can create your CHOICE of a project that demonstrates understanding of course concepts and supports your needs and goals as a professional.

Previous multimedia projects have included:
  • Classroom Website creation
  • Formal Proposal for needed tools
  • Multimedia presentations for parents or administrators
  • Development of procedures for Assistive technology consideration and implementation
  • Conduct a need for AT evaluation using the SETT Framework and the PAR or WPP
  • Create a Tutorial Database for District
  • Apply your UDL Lesson plan and share your results using a mulitmedia presentation
  • What do YOU want to create?

Option 2: Traditional Project

Now that you have learned about and done some hands-on exploration with a wide variety of tools to support ALL learners, what do you want for your classroom? Make a proposal!! Take your time. Make it relevant. Use this project as an opportunity to further explore apps, software programs, online tools (Dropbox, Diigo, google drive, Wikispaces, Edmodo, multimedia tools, Read and Write for Google, Padlet, Twitter, Chrome Extensions, iOS apps, Accessibility options built into operating systems, etc.) that you want/need for your classroom. Let your instructor know of any further resources you need! The Proposal can be a digital paper, or multimedia presentation or ??? Your Choice!

The project itself can be done alone or in pre-approved co-operative groups of no more than two students. You will develop a plan for integrating the use of computers and/or other technologies (MULTIPLE TOOLS) into the classroom curriculum. Your plan must include: (see Rubric)

  • Classroom profile (general not individual) [2 points],

  • Strategies for consideration of student diversity [2 points],

  • Hardware and peripheral choices, including assistive technology [2 points]

  • Website search and how selections reflect Curriculum needs. [2 points]

  • Software/iPad apps search and how selections reflect Curriculum needs. [2 points]

  • Reflection about your online "shopping" to identify appropriate equipment [2 points],

  • Budget [2 points]

  • Reflection post [1 point] - Add your overall thoughts about this project and how it might support you in your efforts to include all students.

    • Prompt: Take this opportunity to gain some closure on your experiences in SPND 422. Please feel free to share your experiences about pulling together your final project. Consider where your thoughts about Assistive Technology and Education started on our first night of class and compare to where you are now. What have you learned?

Please note! This project is ideal to include in a professional portfolio! Your shopping trip and budget are what you create. The goal is for you to see what it would take to implement an ideal learning situation.

If you choose option 2 - PLEASE NO DOCUMENTS/PAPERS - let's walk the walk of UDL and make this multimedia! And, I know, you could argue that I should give you "choice"...but perhaps I am nudging you out of your comfort zone to give multimedia expression a try. You get to write plenty of papers in your other classes, right?
